CYBER TELEVISION STUDIO IN A SUITCASETM
The following Mini Disc products have been evaluated by SuperVideo and can be utilized in the Cyber Television Studio in a SuitcaseTM although there are over a dozen brands and countless models availablc in Japan, only a few have actually made it to the states. The most popular unit is the formats developer, Sony MR series. We use their current entry as it is the most widely available, but, interestingly Sony no longer has the smallest recorder which is what we strive for with our suitcase components.
Sony:
Portable Audio Compact Disc Recorder/Player:
This unit is so unique, I swear it will probably go down in history
as one of the most under rated audio pieces of equipment of our time. Firstly,
this a digital operating device that records faithfully to our PCM digital
tracks of our DV tape. We can take virtually any pre-recorded medium, be
it records, cassettes or even CD's and record them in any sequence we wish
on the MD. You can record conversation, interviews, radio and TV audio
on to the mini disc. It will record up to 75 minutes on one disc. Each
disc is only about 8 or 10 dollars when purchased in boxes of 10. Second,
this format actually allows you to title and put down chapter notes, so
that you may easily latter sort through your library. The mini disc also
allows you to instantly cue up to any track or even pre-marked reference
point due to its use of an optical laser reading head, so you can edit
quickly any material you wish to transfer to DV tape. Next, and no means
least, this is a re-recordable device that can be used over and over again.
Because it is the size of a floppy computer disc and is encased in a protective
plastic housing, you never worry about damage, dirt or having to carry
a bulky library of source material or music. A Truely Amazing Product!
