Why meister :
BLACK MAMBA2 ?W

Good Question...
In about one week (June 26, 2003) Panasonic Japan will roll out a new camcorder to replace the very popular NV-MX5000 and in PAL countries NV-MX500 and get this... the dummies in Pana marketing have come up with NV-GS100,000 dash 'S' and so to shorten it they have marked their inventory sheets with a letter 'k' and because this camcorder will also be available in BLACK which in Japanese will be abbreviated  also the letter 'k'. The dash 's' above is for silver as I understand it. BUT,  now the plot sickens... since the Japanese do not like these convoluted meaningless numbers... the Japanese will be calling this new cam Digicam100 and all the other new models will be Digicam 70 and Digicam50 and so on... go figure.  Europe can't stand the Stupid numbers apparently either and their Pana cams are ALL called eCam and in Asia and the Middle East... all the same. And just so you don't feel pregnant... does the USA term "PalmCam" ring a bell?  Thought so... our local name for this convoluted mess. Since I can not buy into this SHEEP mentality and since I am the meister... we will call this black beauty the Black Mamba and the numbering will continue as with all the past MX cams. After all this cam replaced the MX5000 and it in turn had replaced the MX3500 (MX350 in PAL, they drop one of the stupid zero's!) and that was the replacement for the MX3000 which replaced the MX2500 and before it the MX2000... are we starting to see a pattern here folks? Thought so.  Now Calling this BLACK MAMBA2 NOT only  we MAY have a second benefit on this side of the puddle (Pacific Ocean) as these Names may discourage rip off artist as we have seen in the past, where they start selling these on eBay, backs of pickups in Tokyo or even on the internet where they can start charging for standard 'included' accessories or charge more for Black version than chrome version JUST because of our promotion here...     If this Mamba gets anywhere near popular you better expect some sort of a premium applied to our Black preferred color... even though Pana does NOT charge one single penny more!        It WON'T be the First Time sad to say folks!

Boy! You mean to tell me I can get a $100,000 Studio High Definition cam for peanuts?
NOW, Panasonic seems to refer on their web site as well as the  owner's manual AND in their press release:
High Definition Technology. That does not mean for my Air Heads out there that this cam will some how compete with HD Studio Cams like Sony CineAlta $100,000+ or Ikegami $85,000+ HD types at 20-35 pound shoulder cams... it's NOT going to happen.  Unlike the JVC HDCam where owners have complained @ HERE about not getting their money's worth from something around five grand and having only ONE chip to boot.  BUT, this
BLACK MAMBA2  produces some of the best Digital Video you have ever witnessed if you care to project the playback recorded images onto a HD Plasma wall hanging TV set and it gets even better if you capture to Flash Memory or your computer HDD rather than 500TVL DV format tape as these other mediums are not restricted to DV protocols. If you now own a Black Mamba, turn the cam on. Go into menu and turn on 16 by 9 wide screen (this is the only way!) now you are able to select Progressive Scan and you will be in Ultra fine detail mode. Now select RECORD-TO and pick  any format as you are NOT limited to miniDV format... a-ha, now you see what's happening don't you? Go out side, for plenty of sun light (try High Noon without shadows) as you want complete saturation of all colors... trust me. Lock this puppy down iron tight to a GOOD tripod and get out your remote... no shaking hands on the cam please, find a bed of flowers or something with lots of NATURAL color, zoom all the way and spend time Sharp focusing and ON MANUAL FOCUS Please! Now pull back and turn the cam on, just let this puppy roll and maybe every now and then do a  very slow zoom in and even a slower zoom back out. Run over to your local Circuit City or anyone that is trying to impress you to buy one of these high end High Definition wall plasma TV sets and tell him you want to see for your self with some test tape and plug your cam in the front provided camcorder inputs and yes S-Video would be better than RCA video and FireWire would be best providing they carry PLASMA'S with IEEE which they more than likely... don't.  Better take a seat... you are about to be blown away.  Really !  Ok... nobody will believe you if you tell them you shot this... just say "it was all professionally recorded."   No use arguing or get into a lot of explaining!

Hit the link for the
BLACK MAMBA2 Navigation Page because as each new piece of info comes in I will post all and I do mean ALL relevant material there... ASAP !

As time goes on I will add and update both here and build MANY more MX pages and I will try again to find some USA based TRUSTED locations so you do not have to convert money to Yen and to deal with foreign 'who knows who they are' people and get some one that can speak English at least, some English documentation  and some US shippers that use local US Banks...
In Other Words....     Some Accountability!   :-)

Meister... Do You Have A Link Where You Have Asked Panasonic To EXPLAIN the so
called HD or High Definition claims they have made about this camcorder in their advertising
?
