The following Videonics products have been evaluated by SuperVideo and can be
utilized in the Cyber Television Studio in a Suitcase^TM or in this particular situation,
can marry into the existing edit bench with similar types of equipment. In this instance
the two suitcase items, the Mixer and the Titler form the control room to the Cyber
Studio; while the Palette and the Editor remain behind at the videographer's edit bench.
We now have in mid 1997 the high-end MXPro DV mixer (with four inputs and two outputs) to compliment rather than replace the MX-1digital EFFECTS mixer.

   In August, there was a preview showing of an upcoming product, the MXPro,
   a higher-end video mixer from the Videonics people of Cambell, California.

Partial list of what's new:
- As with MX-1, it's a four-input switcher/mixer with TBC
- 10-bit 4:2:2 digital throughout. 10-bit means noticeably higher video quality than anything else in the category (MX-1 is 8-bit 4:2:2, Panasonic units are 8-bit 4:1:1).

- 500 effects including new shape wipes (circle, diamond, star, keyhole, binocular, heart) and colored borders, drop shadows and soft edges and edge wipes with curved and jagged edges

- True color correction
- User-definable effects menu
- DV upgradable (Firewire Adaptable)
- Multiple picture-in-picture (PIP) capability

Videonics is not announcing price or availability at this time, (BUT THE CHUCKMEISTER's
BEST GUESS IS AT ABOUT 1500 BUCKS PRICE POINT DEPENDING ON WHAT COMPETITION DOES AND A RELEASE DATE NEAR THE END OF THE YEAR!!) but
it will be a higher end piece than the MX-1 and the MX-1 will stay in the product line. YES,
this is the so called 'mystery product' from the Videomaker's 11th annual video contest:-)

Videonics: MX-1

Mixer: The single most critical element in this suitcase concept is none other than the Videonic's MX-1 mixer. Although this concept was originally proved feasible with the Panasonic WJAVE5 A/V mixer back in the winter of 1991, the American made and produced MX-1 is more compact, and therefore a lot more portable, lighter and even far more powerful due to its preview out with four inputs on one screen (quad system). If there is a single must have element to the suitcase concept, the MX-1 is most definitily it, as there is almost no way to operate this concept without just such a unit!
MX-1 Digital Video Mixer: will cut, wipe, dissolve between any of four video inputs -- or use any of over 210 digital video effects. Frame synchronizer and time base corrector (TBC) insures clean transitions. Dual-field, infinite-window TBC makes output rock-solid, even if inputs have faulty time base. Unique preview screen shows miniature copies of all four inputs so you can work with just one or two monitors. Effects include freeze, black and white, negative, mosaic, paint, flip, more. Videonics: TM-2000

Titler: Similar in size, weight and even shape (wedge) as the MX-1, this full keyboard character generator is a perfect compliment to the above unit as it gains expanded features when used together. Since they are both wedge shape they stack and store perfectly in our Porter Case roll-aboard. The TM-2000 has dozens of useful features that we will use from time to time depending client or location with the suitcase.
TitleMaker 2000 Character Generator: delivers sharp, high-resolution titles (720x480 pixel) atop colored backgrounds or superimposed on live video. 92 font/size combinations; over a million colors; drop shadows, bold, outline styles; full QWERTY keyboard with international language support; four-direction scroll and crawl; index screen for fast access to pages; storage for over 8000 characters. Editor: This AB-1 is only used back at our edit bench, and judging from all the many connections that are required to hook this unit up; Trust me when I say there will be few and very far between occasions you will want to unhook and rehook up this unit to your setup. AB-1 Edit Suite and A/B Roll Edit Controller. The four-source A/B-roll edit controller automates multiple source editing. 250-scene EDL memorizes the in and out points for each scene and controls your players and recorder to automatically complete the production. Works with a wide range of camcorders and VCRs/VTRs, ranging from simple consumer units with Control-L or Panasonic 5-pin edit control to professional RS-232 and RS-422-controlled decks. It also supports time code, including RC, SMPTE VITC, and LTC, for accurate productions. Automatically triggers effects and titles when used with a GPI-controllable mixer and titler.
