LENS:
Official Sony
Announcement March 2001 TRV30...
Sony Electronics continues to
lead the way in camcorder innovations with the
introduction of a new high-performance Mini DV Digital Handycam camcorder,
the DCR-TRV30 a sister cam to the PC series DCR-PC120 - being the industry's
first 1.5 mega-pixel CCD
camcorder with an intelligent pop-up flash and a
precision color viewfinder.
This completes the Millennium 1 CCD Line Up.
DCR-PC9, DCR-PC120 and DCR-TRV30
which will be replaced in 2002 by the
Blue Tooth DCR-PC11,
DCR-PC130 and
DCR-TRV40
just thought you might want to know...
The DCR-TRV30's 1.5 mega-pixel
imager raises the bar by delivering up to
530 lines of horizontal
resolution and stunning 1360 X 1020 digital still
images; unprecedented image
quality for a single CCD camcorder.
To enhance the 1.5 mega-pixel
imager, Sony has incorporated an intelligent
pop-up flash to help capture
crisp still images in difficult lighting
situations. In Digital Still
Memory Mode, the intelligent pop-up flash
system communicates with the
camera for the optimum exposure, virtually
eliminating overexposed or
underexposed digital still images. The
intelligent flash has four
modes to accommodate different shooting
environments: automatic,
automatic with red-eye reduction, FORCED flash
or no flash.
Consumers also have a choice
when shooting to use either the precision
color viewfinder 2.5" or
the 3.5" precision Swivel Screen LCD monitor
each, PC120/TRV30 providing more
detail and clarity of subjects. MPEG
Movie Mode, USB
Connectivity and Imaging Software: It's All in the Box
TRV30, replacement
model for the DCR-TRV20, offers a sophisticated
feature package perfect for the
consumer who is ready to take the next
step in digital imaging.
MPEG Movie mode allows the
capture of up to 60 seconds of video &
audio in the Video E-mail mode (160 x
112 resolution), or up to 15 seconds
in the Presentation mode (320 x 240
resolution). These "mini-movies" are
ideal video resolutions for attaching
to e-mails, inserting images into Web
pages and including in presentation
materials.
Both PC120 & TRV30 models
offer three different ways to record MPEG
video. First, a convenient MPEG conversion
feature allows consumers to
select up to 60 seconds of recorded
videotape and convert it to an MPEG
movie. Second, consumers can shoot an MPEG
movie "on location" when
the moment is just right. Finally, through the
DCR-TRV30 Audio/Video
inputs, video can be imported from an external
source - such as a VHS deck,
Video Walkman VCR or analog camcorder -- and
converted to an MPEG
movie & saved to the 128 & 256MB Memory Stick media for easy transfer
to a PC or other Memory Stick media-enabled device.
To augment the digital still
capability and MPEG Movie Mode, the TRV30
Handycam camcorder incorporates
a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connector.
With the supplied USB cable,
the camcorders can transport images & MPEG
video to a compatible PC twenty
times faster than camcorders with only a
serial interface.
Additionally, Sony supplies MGI
PhotoSuite and MGI VideoWave software
to facilitate the transfer of
digital still images and MPEG movies from the
camcorder to a PC. With this
software, camcorder users can perform a
variety of imaging
enhancements, including color alteration, drawing and
more.
In addition to the above, the
DCR-PC120 is equipped with a number of
superb performance features that include:
Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T*Lens - Carl Zeiss lens have an advanced optical
multi-layer coating offering
less glare and flare with increased contrast.
This results in vivid image
brilliance, true-to-life color saturation, and
perfect renditions of subtle
tones.
Progressive Shutter System -
A mechanical shutter system that provides
Progressive Scan
performance.
The result is clearer, sharper images with
excellent definition in BOTH
Stills & in Video without any action bluring.
10X Optical/120X Precision
Digital Zoom - Sony's optical zoom not only
brings the action up close but
the precision digital zoom uses interpolation
technology so digital zooming
is cleaner with less distortion than
conventional digital zooms.
Maximum Performance, Minimum
Size
The DCR-PC120 delivers the
powerful combination of digital video, digital
audio and digital still
capability with Memory Stick media in a compact
design. It also has a 1/4-inch
advanced HAD CCD & 2.5" Swivel Screen
LCD display.
Worry-Free Recording and
Performance Camcorder Features
The aforementioned new features
on the DCR-PC120 and DCR-TRV30
complement Sony's convenient
Worry Free Recording features:
. i.LINK Digital Video
Interface -- i.LINK (IEEE 1394) DV interface allows
for high speed bi-directional
digital communication between two devices
equipped with IEEE 1394 DV
interface, including digital camcorders, digital
VTRs and VAIO PCs such as the
revolutionary PCG-GT3 Blue Tooth!
. InfoLithiumR Battery with
AccuPower System -- All Sony Handycams
conveniently indicate the
remaining minutes of battery life on the LCD or
viewfinder display, allowing
users to keep an accurate & constant reading
of remaining battery power.
Super LaserLink Wireless
Transmission system -- Uses infrared light to
make a wireless playback
connection from the camcorder to the optional
receiver and your television up
to 26 feet away.
. Super Nightshot O Lux
Recording system -- Captures video in total darkness
up to 10 feet away by using an
advanced infrared system. Super NightShot

More... first owners feedback
chuckmeister... this is not about
my TRV30 or PC110, but
about the Memory Stick. I’ve noticed that every time I
download pictures from the camera it resets itself to zero.
This is a very big inconvenience to rename any and all
pictures... sincerely your speed-ster
Aloha Speed-ster:Your question caught
your meister a little off guard and required
some OJT time to sort it out.
It is very important to me that ANY info I
give out is correct, proper and within my
scope as a consumer advocate to be able
to give you a reply in keeping with the
professionalism of videography
and the importance people like yourself
have come to depend and enjoy its use.
"I’ve noticed that every time I download
pictures from the camera it resets it to zero"
First, when you first set up your menu's
there is an 'Option' for naming images
captured called "Series Mode" This is
your choice here and it is explained that
once begun it will try and zero out or
erase this info after your done down
loading and erase the Memory Stick...
Because what you would like is to have
is a non resetting system... do what I did...
I decided I did not want an A,B, C,...
because I am going to run out of letters
and they tell me nothing. Next, I also
said to my self, "meister" if I just went
along and numbered everything
consecutively it really would be
meaningless. So, I came up with a
unique and meaningful system, reverse
dating of year, month day...
either 20010817 for today Friday... OR
010817 also for today but keeping it
down to 6 positions That gives me an
idea about the time and maybe the place
the images were shot and looking at a
bunch of those numbers I could tell you
something without opening up the folder
and displaying the image.
Now, you're right, no one limits themselves
to one image per day... so what would be a
reasonable limit 10? 100? 1000? or even
10,000 images? by using a single letter
of A thru Z you have 26 possibilities.
If you double that to two positions with letters
you are at about 675 ID's with just using TWO letters.
If you used three positions of letters you would have
17,575 individual ID's or 26 cubed.
Now, in order for this to work you must remember after
downloading the memory sticks to re-enter the unique
ID of that DAY and then all pictures would have that
unique identifier.
I believe you would have very little problem of remembering
since it basically relying on that day's date and letters
should start with A or AA or AAA for the number of
positions you think in your case you would need. The
next in sequence would be B or AB or AAB and so on.
Let me know if you followed my logic here and how I
worked through this. Nothing is chiseled in stone so
if you adapt this to your own needs, so be it, what ever
works. The Memory stick is fluid and flexible and will
take on your identity if you so choose.
Thanks and Mahalo Lou
for bringing this concern to your meister's attention...
