ONCE upon a time, man looked up at the sky and dreamed a dream      
to soar among the birds. To go where no man has gone before, to leap   
from the boundaries of gravity  and  glide on the thermal currents of    
air and be among the clouds that are scattered far out of reach.             
Then he challenged even the birds of prey & out chased the fastest and  
later the highest that ever flew. The barriers of endurance, distance     
and even the wall (the speed of sound), were also exceeded. Then there 
came a challenge from the leader of the free world, to build,  to fly and 
and more importantly...to man,  a craft that will out run a bullet, out    
 climb any other plane and out fly any hostile missile.   Russian airmen
