Use Your Camcorder As Never Before With
DCR-PC120BT
The latest new DV format camcorder announcement from Sony sees the
introduction of a new model that enables, for the first time, wireless
Internet access direct from your DCR-PC120BT camcorder using a GSM
or
GPRS
Bluetooth enabled telephone or fixed telephone connection.
Bluetooth Internet Connectivity
For people who base their personal and work lives around Internet
connectivity, the DCR-PC120 offers ultimate speed and ease of access to the
Internet. To connect to the Web directly from your camcorder, all you need
is a Bluetooth enabled GSM/GPRS telephone or Modem adaptor with
Bluetooth
function (BTA-NW1) for fixed telephone line use.
Internet connectivity does not stop there. Using the PC120, you can surf
the web and read your emails. For off-line usage, web pages can be saved to
the camcorder's Memory Stick and read later at your convenience. A super
high quality 2.5-inch LCD monitor rated now at 210,000 pixels ensures that
although the screen size is relatively small, the web-based material is
displayed in clear and sharp detail.
"Now we are witnessing the pioneering development of a new kind of
network-based technology," "Network connectivity will become a major
feature, not only for camcorders but also within a wide range of other
Sony
products."
The DCR-PC120 will be introduced in a select number of countries. For
regions outside, Sony has introduced the DCR-PC115, a camcorder that
shares
the DCR-PC120's profile and extends its PC-style usage
as
part of your personal communications network.
Sony first for quality and ease of use
The highest picture resolution to date is achieved using a 1.5 mega pixel
CCD and 14-bit digital signal processing in order to provide 530 lines of
horizontal resolution. A Carl Zeiss T* lens with 120x digital and 10x
optical zoom provides stunning picture quality while a new Hologram AF
function uses safe laser technology to precisely measure distance -
technology that significantly improves auto-focus in low light conditions.
Add to this an automatic pop-up flash for still image use with red-eye
reducing technology built-in and you can be certain to top quality
images in
any conditions.
For comprehensive PC integration, both new camcorders possess three
interconnection options - USB, i.LINK (DV IN/OUT) and Memory Stick.
They
come supplied with an 8MB Memory Stick, USB cable and driver
software for
Photo Suite, and Video Wave. Using the camcorder's MPEG
e-Movie feature,
videoclips up to 60 seconds in length can be stored on a
Memory Stick &
transferred to your PC in seconds for editing, archiving
and sending to
"friends via e-mail.
"These new camcorders provide a wide audience of young, dynamic and
demanding camcorder users with unprecedented quality and network
functionality,"

Ironically the PC120 was released just a week
before this skyline image was no more....

HandyCam PC120 Arrives Feb. 2002 USA
LAS
VEGAS (COMDEX, Booth #L5132), Nov. 12, 2001 – Sony Electronics
today introduced a new MiniDV camcorder that gives consumers the power
to record exceptional video and the freedom to share treasured memories
on the Net without a PC connection.
The DCR-PC120BT camcorder comes equipped with a 1.5 megapixel CCD
imager, MPEG Movie Mode and Bluetoothä
wireless networking technology. “There
are so many personal and professional applications for this new
networking technology,” said Takashi Kondo, senior vice president of
Digital Imaging Products Division at Sony Electronics.
“It’s for those times when everyone can’t be together for
important happenings, like a wedding a world away or the first product
rolling off the assembly line. This camcorder will connect you in an
instant to the important moments of your life.”
Share Still Images and MPEG Movies, and Surf the Web
By
incorporatingUsing
Bluetooth wireless technology with the DCR-PC120BT camcorder, consumers
can access the Internet without a PC.
Consumers can use this network feature three ways. First, upload still images and MPEG video directly to Sony’s online photo sharing ImageStationsm service. At ImageStation.com, consumers can create a Web album and email invitations to family and friends for online viewing.
Second, users can choose to send text e-mail messages more than 500 characters with attached still images and MPEG video directly from the camcorder to a friend’s inbox. The PC120BT can also receive text messages up to 1,024 characters.
And third, the DCR-PC120BT camcorder allows for Web browsing and viewing on the camcorder’s LCD display. Users can view Web pages and download them to the supplied 8MB Memory StickÒ media for quick and easy access.
To initiate the network feature, the bundled Bluetooth network adaptor is connected to an analog phone line. The camcorder wirelessly communicates with the adaptor, which can be placed up to 30 feet away.
Sony will offer a service designed for easy set-up and connection to the Internet via the DCR-PC120BT Handycam® camcorder. The company expects to make more information about the service available in early 2002.
Brighter
and More Brilliant Video and Digital Still Images
The 1.5 megapixel imager in the DCR-PC120BT model raises the bar by delivering up to 530 lines of horizontal video resolution and stunning 1360 x 1020 digital still images.
To
enhance the megapixel imager, Sony incorporated an intelligent pop-up
flash to that ensures the capture of crisp still images in difficult
lighting situations. In Digital Still Memory Mode, the intelligent
pop-up flash system communicates with the camera to measure optimum
exposure – virtually eliminating overexposed or underexposed images.
The DCR-PC120BT model is also the first camcorder to include the Hologram AF (auto focus) Low Light Laser Assist Focus System. Using a laser pattern for improved edge detection, this new camcorder promotes sharper focus of digital still images in low light situations.
MPEG Movie mode allows the capture of up to 60 seconds of video and audio in the Video Email Mode (160 x 112 resolution) or up to 15 seconds in the Presentation Mode (320 x 240 resolution). These mini-movies can be e-mailed from the Bluetooth technology-enabled camcorder or a PC, and inserted into Web pages or presentations.
Available in February for about $2,000, the 1-pound, 4-ounce DCR-PC120BT MiniDV camcorder also includes the following features:
Epson America, Inc., that enables printers and camcorders to better work together to create frame-ready photos without complicated preparation. The DCR-PC120BT is the first Sony camcorder to incorporate this technology.
· Worry Free RecordingÔ features – Consumers can enjoy high-quality digital video and audio in combination with Sony’s advanced Worry Free RecordingÔ features, such as
SteadyShotÒ
Picture Stabilization, the Super NightShot® O Lux recording
system, InfoLithium® Battery with AccuPowerä
System and i.LINKÒ
Digital Video Interface.
