My
MAMBA2
Q & A!
Welcome To the NEXT Generation
Camcorder
BLACK
MAMBA2
Limited Edition

Above Image was taken
from Pana's Japan Web
Site Posting
' High
Definition Technology Incorporated into Mamba !
'
ASK der meister...
"What are the HD Features?"
Well, I could be facetious and say ask Pana as they posted it,
manufactured it and have stories all over their manual about
what all they did with HD... but I want you to be informed.
This is not the Sony AltaCine HD $100,000+ cam nor Ikegami
$92,000 Broadcast Studio HD Cam... as the MX weighs ONE
pound where-as these HD cameras can run anywhere from 28
or more pounds.... BUT, you Will get HD technology !
According to Pana Japan. they have incorporated HD features,
parts and you will see a higher resolution Especially if you record
it directly to disk, HDD or the Flash Memory Reader/Writer.
When you go to play back... and view it on a High Definition
monitor preferably a high end Plasma with 16X9 screen aspect
ratio you WILL be astonished at the quality and the improvement
they have been able to make with this camcorder.
One more caveat.. it is an open secret that Sony has been promising
a consumer HD to match the joke JVC calls 1CCD HD for 5 grand.
The new Sony HDR-FX1 for Christmas 2004 will be sold stripped
for about 4 grand. To put it into the field, dig deeper.
We are led to believe this cam has 'some' of those features and
is to be able to utilize a new formula DV tape @ $20 that goes
beyond the 540 line limit of mini DV format. We shall see.
Explain Me High Definition in this Mamba meister !
Now... aren't you
sorry you asked ?

"
chuckiemeister: It's not often that the successor of an already top-notch
camera,
such as the MX5000 & Mamba1, can be said to be improved... let alone superior.
Nothing illustrates the old adage that "Good things come in small
packages"
BETTER than even my Mamba1
I would say that the feel of this BLACK
MAMBA2
is special... it does feel solid but some kind of texture over titanium, strong,
cushiony
and soft. Sony owners are in for a Shock as my Wedding Videographer
partner
who swore up until a few minutes ago, he would never switch to another,
Ordered
a brand new BLACK version of the

Subject: Can you answers ?
Yo Chuck,
That is because I WANTED
it that way... you see, I have NO ONE
in America importing these wonderful 'toys' and
when I
find these
unique products in Asia, my e-mailers do
NOT want to hear waiting
6 months, a year or that they Never will get
here. This isn't an option!
So, I have asked successful business people to
perform A SERVICE
and NOT a business and
bring these packages I Think-Up & offer
them to my e-mailers.
Hence the name BLACK
MAMBA2
Package !
He referred me to your web site to read and to
you and I did read it all.
I swear if ain't on my site it probably does NOT
exist... !
Is the Black Mamba the same as the silver
model ?
Feature
wise... NOPE! it is much rarer, harder to find and
according to many of my
e-mailers some KEY features are
now showing up on the MIA list
and same goes for PAL.
There are sporadic reports from
PAL & some US owners of
a noise, hum, clatter in the
tape transport in REC and possibly
also in playback. If so Pana
Should do a recall, totally unacceptable
and correctable at the factory.
My PAL 400GN, USA PV400u
and my native NV-GS400K-k has
absolutely NO noise what so
ever. Period.
I live in a PAL country... can
you get me any of this in PAL?
Most Definitely YES
! Just e-mail me and say
which country
you live in and I will
put you in touch with a World Pana
Expert from a Global Pana
Authorized dealer whose prices
will astound you and
whose service is impeccable and who
comes Highly recommended
by Sony, Canon and Pana !
One exception... my
wonderful SUPER & EXTREME Pana
BLACK
MAMBA2
accessories. Different address and contacts.
How is it different, other than in its color?
Well... here is where it gets a little murky... Pana in it's infinite
Wisdom to screw-over its
customer base has found this wonderful
tactic discovered
years ago by JVC and more recently Sony to
produce versions
for their home market of Japan with ALL the Bells
and the Whistles
intact and nothing showing up in the Gone Missing
column but when it
comes to foreign sales... well... they begin to start
picking off THIS
feature and THAT switch and THIS over here
until we have
knocked down the price to under cut ANY competition.
Lovely. But,
Hey you and your PAL Euro's will never know the
difference and the
masses will just go on their merry old IGNORANT
way... so you get
Second Best, So You don't get BLACK... What's it to
you?
And so we here try to inform you for over a decade now... and I
am very happy to
see some of you have started your own web sites and
others have spread
the word and now I am not here all alone and by
myself in this Cold
Cruel World fighting the Good Fight. I am silently
rooting for my Gal
Pat, a Strong Dot Georgia Peach of a guy and a
much maligned
Canuck Frank, Tommy in my home town of Greenville,
Jan the Flying Dutchman, Bertel, Alex,
Tony PF, Lopaka, Robert, Tex,
John & Jeff in Ark.
Bob, Allan, Don and so many many more of those
of you who have
once past through here. Garish pages have I... but no
one complained in
1991... but no one had a computer or even knew of
the web. It was a very
lonely time but I was here & I'm still here. Some
have not made it this
far, others such as Robin & Tim & San Marcos CH
among so many have
gone on to greater things and are giving back to the
community and THAT
what this is all about. Mahalo All of You...
Why should I buy from these guys
around the USA and not on the
web where
I can find it maybe cheaper from an overseas faceless rip off
artist?
Because
all that glitters is not gold and just reading my e-mail IN
box everyday, I get
horror stories from those that shipped their
money overseas with
nothing to show for it and no one, not even
the police here or there
have any sympathy for you let alone care!
Same goes for these
clowns operating out of pickup trucks on eBay
and places on the net
that don't really exist. You are out all that
hard earned money and
Still be in need of a camcorder... sad to say.
If there is a recall...
you will need an Authorized Certified dealer in
THAT particular country
where the cam is being submitted. We've all
been here before with the
Canon XL-1 finder & Sony TRV950 recalls.
Besides... I've already showed
you where MAMBA2 cam effectively factors
it self out to a
competitive price when the entire package is taken into account.
"I Don't Get What Your Problem
Is' or why you're trying to Go
'On The Cheap'
BTW.... here with
US dealers you can pay with a US credit
card to a US Bank
& use US funds and US shipping with FedEX
which is included
and this Visa entitles you to a Free 1 Year Warranty.
What's wrong with
Free ?
Want more
reasons for NOT going to some faceless foreigner?
Most common
complaint I hear day in and day out is wrong
merchandise,
faulty merchandise, shorted items, used looking,
worn
out merchandise, Nothing provided in English, No guarantee
and the most
common... Merchandise Not Even showing up !
It was unclear but
is it 720i or whatever that standard is... that the
JVC camera is using?
The JVC has a
grand total of 'ONE' chip (CCD) and is 5 grand
Plus.
Most owners want their money back... if that is any
indication of
it's future ! Just read all the wonderful owner's reports
that are on
the many forums.
Is the
BLACK
MAMBA2 HDTechnology resolution supported in Apple's Final Cut Pro
?
ABSOLUTELY.... No
problem with Mac or any Apple Software.
On
SuperVideo's web site it appeared that the consumer silver Mamba had
24X optical telephoto, and it seemed that some specs on the site said the
Black
Mamba only had 12X. Is that true?
BLACK
MAMBA2 is 12X
Optical & precision zoom is 25X and stands up quite
well but 100X is pixilated and
is a waste of time. The US version is Only
12X and 700X when it is
expected to arrive NOW sometime in late August.
How is the
BLACK
MAMBA2 repaired under warranty
or do I send it internationally
to a distant Pana repair facility?
In USA they pull
bad parts and insert new parts. In Japan at the
camcorder plant
itself... they do the same... too costly
to do manual
repair. If you
purchase from either here or import you'll have 1 year.
Final thought
JS-meister... I will guarantee you will be one very happy
and amazed camper when you see this BLACK
MAMBA2 arrive at your
door. You will
be astonished when you see just how small but powerful
and how well it
fits in your hand and solid it's feel is. But, the best
feeling of all is
not when you view the play back the first time but when
you want to run down to your
nearest big screen TV dealer and ask a
salesman does he have a great High
Definition Plasma TV in full 16X9
for sale and when he does...
you are going to
want to pull your miracle
cam out of your pocket,
or waist camera bag and plug in the sound and
image connections and Then you will know You Have ARRIVED.
The words most spoken by
first Owners for this experience was...
Breathtaking !
I have been asked many
times now to repeat this procedure on how to
prep the BLACK
MAMBA2
for a Demo where it looks like HD. Night before
charge all batteries,
clean lens, clean cam and prep the tape. You need
to plug in the external
mic port to disengage the on board mic, Radio
Shack makes a dummy jack
for 50 cents or just cut off the wire from a
1/8th mini plug. Cover up
the cam with lens hood and turn on record to
paint the entire screen
in black. You can also use color burst found on
many video mixers that
generate Engineer Black & supply 'pink' noise.
Now when you playback
your video tapes on any VCR or TV set...
your tape should show a
perfectly blacken screen & if volume is turned
all the way up, NO noise
of any kind should be detected. You now have
a NEW tape (i.e. Virgin
Tape). Find a great area with sun light from
behind you onto the
scene. Try Flowers, Lots of Natural color. Lock
the BLACK
MAMBA2
down on a tripod so it is rock steady. Turn off OIS.
Open view screen & with
remote in hand go to the menu. I would use full
manual settings but if
you select full auto pull the focus off auto & set focus
by manual control on full
zoom IN. Check WB button, check Iris, check
audio settings, check
earphones, select button behind view screen & set for
Pro Cinema mode. I
also suggest you repeat this in Wide mode to see diff.
Set Both View Finder and
View Screen to On in menu >>LCD to >>ON.
Zebra pattern and color
bars to ON & rec 1 minute. Now begin recording
your scene & make after
some time some very very slow zooming IN and
then zooming Out shots.
If you want to record to Flash Memory and you
Do have a 1GB or higher
chip... record it in MPEG2 and MPEG4 onto
an external FM
Reader/Writer. A Laptop HDD is also an option. Play to
either a CD-R or a DVD-R
for maximum effect. Or to that $10,000 HD
special over at Circuit
City or Best Buy that hopefully has a FireWire
connection. Failing
that use S-Video and supplied audio RCA jacks.
I think you will be
pleasantly surprised at the quality of your work. :-)
your video will look....
A L I V E !
Good Luck and let me know how this works
