MX5000 with Dual XLR & Phono Jacks !!      &           UnderWater / All Weather Housing
Colonel Hal Hat Reads    'Viet-Nam * Korea * WWII   Veteran'
!

Meister... pray tell why Pana USA will not bring the MX5000 to America?
Meister... what is the significance of the mouse at the MX Directory page?

Same answer for both, if you hit the Hot Link on the MX picture at MXmouse
you will notice a link to a curious Japanese Pana page that shows a very
unusual reference to a 10 to 15 Thousand dollar shoulder mounted Pro
model Digital Camcorder and the heart.. the Prism Block is removed and
by way of animation is placed into the MX5000.  Not referring to the Leica
Lens group or the CCD chips but the Prism block.  This is significant in that it
is a compliment to the MX's properties to compete with Much more expensive
and competitive camcorders... even Other Pana Expensive camcorders
!

Uh, Houston... Does This Mean We Have LIFT OFF ?

Speaking of Lift Off... seen a Flying train around
HERE?

Does this mean I can expect
a Gazillion tourist moving to
 my Florida neighborhood any
time soon....  help!

 chuckmeister...
Did you once have a page that named the best 1-chip cam & the best
3CCD camcorder (which was the TRV30 & MX3000 at the time)? Is it worth it, in terms of picture quality, to buy a one-chip camera to knock around with? Or should I save for a DVX or MX
or similar ?  Thanks. DBL-meister

I am often asked about the capability of changing a Japanese Domestic Camcorder or VCR from Japanese Menu's to English Menus...
There seems to be a cottage industry in getting domestic
Japanese destined products converted in their menu's
to English by tripping switches, hooking up computers,
using widgets, reprogramming the EPROM and opening
up the offending camcorder / VCR & with software cause
changes in performance and parameters to include
languages in the menu programs.

I believe this borders on UFO sightings in rumors,
hoaxes and diverse claims.  I see no reason why
German or Russian PAL units would needlessly
contain Japanese and conversely why any other
language but Japanese be included in a Japan Only
marketed product.  The Japanese are notorious for
Not including unnecessary and impractical "extras"
especially for no apparent reason or justification. This
whole scenario comes down to    'Wishful Thinking.'
I suppose people will cling hope against all hope to believe
what they want to believe and Facts just seem to get in the
way.  One little practical Trivia...

How many shop keepers and tinkerer's of
electronics in the by ways and ally ways
in Tokyo or even Akihabara... say they
will for a price Change a menu...  change
it TO Japanese or From Japanese to English?

....well ?

none.... sorry... I asked as recently as last week... NONE !

But, that will probably NOT make a wits worth of difference
to those that Just Have To Believe In a Holy Grail.  Too bad...

Wait a minute... hold your horses... in the 'Hey meister what ever happened
to your prediction about.... "  department...  Remember I said here about
two and a half years ago that Bluetooth will have to worry about WiFi in the
wireless equipment marketplace?  Remember?   Well WiFi just went from
20 feet to FIVE MILES in one leap! OK, now go read my OLED news...

(October 15, 2002) — Eastman Kodak Co. is showing off the latest  breakthrough in its quest to build brighter and more colorful display
screens for consumer electronics.

The company Tuesday invited reporters to see a prototype 15-inch flat-panel screen that uses so-called organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology.

Kodak is the pioneer of that technology, which relies on electrically charged chemical compounds as a source of light.

The screens look better and use less power because they do not need a separate lighting source.

The 15-inch screen is all of 1.4 millimeters thick -- about the size of two
Quarters back-to-back ! Regardless of 2" or 15" or 21" or 210 inches!!

Kodak envisions OLED technology as a replacement for bulky desktop PC Computer and Laptop liquid-crystal display screens. The technology could also be used for flat-panel televisions.

Kodak says the 15-inch screen is a 16 X 9 High Definition quality.
It was developed jointly with the Sanyo Electric Corp. of Japan.
Your meister believes You won't believe what Your eye sees!

Hang in there. We have already got in our hands OLED's in ALL
the new Color screen Cell Phones and portable DVD is set for
this holiday season.  Laptops with 16 X 9 is now possible.  And
you Wall hanging enthusiast should be right behind us...

Aloha from your meister:
I have been asked to address the issue of product
warranty... Thanks for the many e-mails especially
those that have concerns with purchasing THIS MX
product as well as ANY product that is 'brought into
the USA' for resale...
If you purchase a video camcorder at your local
photo store or discount electronics store you will see
a 'Finely' worded document that informs you of the
conditions which would VOID any guaranty work to be
performed by either the manufacturer or his authorized
repair shops scattered around the country.

The exclusions are so contrived that basically you are
going to have to have a DOA (dead on arrival) product
for any warranty work to qualify.
Even at that the manufacturer has such language that it
will be up to THEIR interpretation and not you the owner
as to what constitutes ANY warranty work to be perform
and what cost You will bear. MY short answer for all this
is quite simple...
do Not rely at all on any implied or written guarantee....
simply take your product's ID, serial numbers, make,
model and brand and submit them to your 'Home Owners', automobile and / or business insurance policy.
Please remember one salient Fact... The cost of repair
NORMALLY exceeds the cost of replacement . It does
not take rocket science here to be prepared here & take
matters into your own hands & not to rely on the "good
will' and the generous good wishes of these monolithic organizations... I have In Boxes full of night mare stories
of  'understandings' going South; of Big Name electronics
and Big name stores & chains. On the matter of extended
warranty... they have for the most part have proven to be
a FURTHER waste of money as they have consistently
shown to be not 'worth the paper they are printed on' and
that is a quote from hundreds of fellow camcorder owners
that have fallen for the extended warranty scams.  Canon
said many years ago at a convention that if they felt an
extended period of time was warranted... they would
include it.  JVC it was not necessary.  Sharp & Sony
said to the effect it would add undue expense that their
customers had not seem fit to addressed so it was a non
issue to them and their customers.  And on & on...

I feel so strong on this matter that I have posted this just
as I am writing you today...  AND that I will post it for
the um-teeth
time on my November 2002 Monthly DV
News Page still again.

I wish I had better news in this department but at
least you have been given warnings that many do not
get at all. BTW, the cost many times of adding a
camcorder to a home owner's policy is.... ZERO !

Extended warranties can run into the hundreds.

A camcorder is a fine piece of precision electronics,
right up there with priceless paintings, cut crystal,
precious jewelry... take good care of it and it will
give you Years of faithful service. Accidents happen
and THAT is why we have or buy insurance.
