& Sony are expected to unveil several surprise
Cams at NAB
Here in Las Vegas Next Month ... April 8th -
12th
I expect a compromised teeny tiny Palm 24p cam
that
runs on both NTSC and PAL with Motion Picture 24 fps.
If Pana plays its cards right, this 24p will become #1
DV!
Also this Pana 24p augers to be a new mini DV format
that may be a step closer to High Definition in a Radical
Prosumer Camcorder Form Factor!
Pana is expected to show off their version of OLED.
Pana has reversed for the third time in as many years their
offices and has decided to move everyone and everything
back to Secaucus New Jersey. GO
FIGURE!!!
Pana will try and have a DVD burner camcorder before
Sony
& a prototype is expected at NAB according to Japan rumors
Pana
may show with either Fuji or TDK next NAB (2003)
the Three hour LP / 2 hour SP... mini DV video
tape.
Samsung and Taitung may show their new 9" OLED
wall
hanging TV's at NAB as well.

Maybe.. Just Maybe the overdue XL-2
and it's step child, the GL-2 will arrive
before the new Millennium change !!!!
I am predicting that this time next year it will be
next to
impossible to give away 5, 10 or 15 thousand
dollar TFT
clunkers due to the OLED 1 & $2,000 models.
Sony says it will be cheaper to migrate from 500 line
mini DV straight to 1000 line DVD than to try to re-
invent the wheel with a high resolution mini DV
Tape.
I expect to see a DVD burner for UNDER $200 at NAB
I also expect to see a DVD burner the size of a CD
jewel
case and thus spell the death of floppy disk, even
CD's
and any kind of half step measures such as ZIP drives.
But, I have recently seen demo's of new forms of
hard memory devices that Flash Memory Chips
can rise up and challenge ALL forms of memory
and storage including hard disk drives. A Flash
Memory from Simple Tech running 20 GB and the
size of a postage stamp and cost seemingly as
much as a postage stamp could spell trouble for
any competitor including DVD-RW and HDD...
period!

We have
at NAB a new set of Optics from a new source.
The promise is pictures so clear... that the image will
seem A- Live!
This new technology should appear in most brands
of camcorders
within a year. I am sure it will be the
demise of Name Brand lens
optics such as Canon, Zeiss and Leica being
bally hoo'd.. .
